Cyrano’s Café on the Riverwalk began serving Chef Didier Durand’s award-winning cuisine in 1999 – in fact, it’s the longest established restaurant along Chicago’s beautiful River Walk. The Cafe was named after the celebrated Frenchman Cyrano de Bergerac, the legendary dramatist, poet and duelist from Bergerac, Durand’s birthplace, who symbolizes "La Grande Passion" with its love of good food, historic buildings and general "je ne sais quoi".


At Cyrano’s Café on the Riverwalk, you will enjoy classic Fresh cuisine which is an affordable alternative to the formal and more expensive French dining experience. Cyrano’s Café on the Riverwalk is open every day of the week starting at 11 am. On weekends you can savor Chef’s bountiful Brunches. And of course we feature a full selection of mixed cocktails, excellent wines from all around the world, and some beers (local & imported).

Chef Didier was born in Bergerac, on the plains of the River Dordogne in Southwestern France. He is a graduate of the famed Lycee Hotelier cooking school in Bergerac and spent two years preparing award-winning French cuisine at the four-star Michel Guerard Restaurant in Eugenie-Les-Bains, France. He continued to won culinary fame from the French Riviera, the Pyrenees and the Alps to Luxembourg, Switzerland and the Caribbean.

In 1996, he and his wife Jamie opened their first restaurant in Chicago’s trend-setting River North area. Today, Cyrano's Cafe on the Riverwalk serves classic Farm Fresh fare, simple, rustic food he learned to cook growing up on his grandfather's farm in Bergerac, France.
